Why Is Mint Fest Celebrated?

With rich, organic soil that is perfect for growing mint plants – the St. Johns area has been known as an excellent location to farm this crop due to its natural fertility and ideal climate.

As a result, many mint producers began operations in Clinton County in the 1900s.

Clinton County still ranks first in Michigan in terms of total mint production, and the city of St. Johns has long been known as “Mint City” and the “Mint Capital of the World.”

Today, Michigan mint is still prized for its high quality, and Clinton County remains at the forefront of mint production.
